  2. Sawmill Market

  3. Duran Central Pharmacy

  4. Laguna Burger

1. Sadie's of New Mexico

If you are familiar with Albuquerque, chances are you have heard of Sadie's. This authentic New Mexican style restaurant has been serving up delicious food for over 50 years. They have 3 locations in town, but we chose to eat at the Fourth Street location on our visits. You should know ahead of time that I strongly rate Mexican restaurants based on their chips and salsa. Let me tell you, Sadie's is hard to beat! It is spicy and delicious. We tried a variety of entrees and my favorite by far was the Chile Relleno. I loved the sides of Frijoles and Papitas as opposed to the rice and beans I am used to. Everything is covered with your choice of green or red chiles, or Christmas, a combination. You can't go wrong with this local favorite!

2. Sawmill Market

Located close to Old Town, Sawmill Market is an old renovated lumber mill that now houses a variety of food options. They also host artisan markets that showcase talented New Mexican artist. It has a beautiful outdoor seating area that is great for the kids. There are food choices to meet a number of tastes ranging from New Mexican cuisine, to hotdogs. It also has a few bars to choose from. My family has tried Blue Door Patisserie, Cacho's Latin Flavor, Hawt Pizza Co., Kulantro, and Tulipani Pasta. I would eat at all of them again!

*My favorite was the green chile chicken pasta at Tulipani.

3. Duran Central Pharmacy

I know what you're thinking, a pharmacy on the must eat list? Just trust me on this one. Duran's has been around for over 50 years. Not only are they a pharmacy, but they have traditional New Mexican cuisine and awesome shopping. I had the cheese enchilada plate with green chilies. It was fresh and delicious. If you are visiting Old Town, Duran is the perfect place to stop and have lunch! Seating is limited, but we did not have to wait long and it gave us time to look around the store.

4. Laguna Burger

Last on my list is Laguna Burger, deemed World Famous. The original locations are west of Albuquerque off of I-40, however there are now 2 locations in Albuquerque. I chose the Laguna Wimp (1/3 lb), complete with green chilies. It was a great burger and the fries and milkshake were just the thing to top it off. Laguna is great for a laid back atmosphere and a good burger.
